The Implementation Doctorate program is a program established by the Minister of Education and Science based on art. 376 sec. (1) and item 2 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2022, item 574, 583, 665, 682 and 807).
Background information
The subject of the program is to create conditions for the development of cooperation between the entities of the higher education system and science with the socio-economic environment, conducted within doctoral schools and consisting in the education of doctoral students in cooperation with their employing entrepreneurs or other entities, the effect of which will be the implementation of the results of scientific activities conducted by doctoral students in these entities.
Entities running doctoral schools are entitled to participate in the program:
- universities,
- scientific institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences,
- research institutes,
- international scientific institutes established on the basis of separate laws, operating on the territory of the Republic of Poland
– for which the granting of funds constituting support under the program would not constitute state aid in accordance with Art. 107 and 108 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, hereinafter referred to as “applicants”.
Applications for the program can be submitted in one of three modules:
- “Implementation Doctorate I” – within the framework of which the preparation of doctoral dissertations by doctoral students conducting scientific activities in a scope other than specified in point 2 is supported;
- “Implementation Doctorate II – artificial intelligence and quantum technologies” – within which the preparation of doctoral dissertations by doctoral students conducting scientific activities in the field of the use of artificial intelligence in technological or social processes, including those related to cybersecurity, is supported;
- “Implementation doctorate III – metrology” – which supports the preparation of doctoral dissertations by doctoral students conducting research in the field of using metrology in technological and social processes, including those related to the development of digital technologies and the latest technologies in the areas of health, environment, energy and advanced measurement techniques.
The applicant shall allocate the funds allocated under the program to:
- doctoral scholarship referred to in art. 209 section 1 of the Act;
the monthly amount awarded under the program to finance a doctoral scholarship for a doctoral student is:- PLN 3,450.00 – by the month of the mid-term evaluation referred to in Art. 202 sec. 2 of the Act;
- PLN 4,450.00 – after the month of the mid-term assessment referred to in art. 202 sec. 2 of the Act.
- increasing the amount of the doctoral scholarship for a doctoral student meeting the conditions referred to in art. 209 section 7 of the Act
- social insurance costs referred to in Art. 6 section 14a-16 of the Act of 13 October 1998 on the social insurance system (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 423, with later amendments), the financing of which is the responsibility of the applicant;
- co-financing the costs of using the research infrastructure for the implementation of the project by the doctoral student.
Deadlines
The call for applications is launched in May each year.
General conditions for participation in the program:
- Applicants for the program must have completed second-cycle studies, i.e. have a master’s degree or other document confirming the possession of a master’s degree.
- In order to participate in the program, the candidate must be employed, on a full-time basis, by an entity that agrees for the candidate to be educated at the CUT Doctoral School as part of the program and provides an assistant supervisor from among its employees throughout the period of participation in the program.
The assistant supervisor may be a person with:
- a doctoral degree, or
- at least five years’ experience in carrying out scientific activities, or.
- significant achievements in the field of development and implementation in the economic or social sphere of an original design, construction, technological or artistic solution, with a supra-local scope and a permanent and universal character.
- A person whose application will be qualified by the Ministry of Education and Science for implementation must pass the recruitment to the CUT Doctoral School. After entering the list of PhD students of the CUT Doctoral School, they will have to complete the education program applicable to all participants
in the CUT Doctoral School.
The preparation of the doctoral dissertation / participation in the program lasts a maximum of 3 or 4 years.
