Copernicus Festival

We invite you to the Home – Copernicus Festival

Most discussions about a research career revolve around a single question: how do you secure a grant? The second question is asked less often: and what happens next?

During the Copernicus Festival (19–24 May), both questions feature in the programme.

ERC Stage (19–20 May)

Sessions on ERC grants from the perspective of evaluators and awardees. What do evaluators look for, how to build a project around a strong research question, and which elements of one’s track record really matter.

NCBR Stage (21 May)

Discussions on what happens after securing funding. LIDER programme awardees will share what it’s like to lead their own project and team in practice.

NCN Stage (22 May)

The panel ‘Basic Research, Real Impact’ under the patronage of the NCN. Why it is worth funding research that does not promise a ready-made product – and how such research changes the world.

ERC Talks (19–24 May, daily at 6.30 pm)

Short sessions with six ERC grant winners from fields as diverse as cryptography, astronomy, genetics, democratic algorithms and linguistics.

Admission to all events is free.
