Discipline description
Materials engineering is an inter-disciplinary science dealing with the structure of materials and methods of influencing and research into their properties. Implementing the achievements of physics, chemistry, electronics and a number of other technical sciences, it also serves biology and medicine creating the foundations of numerous engineering accomplishments of the 21st century. It may control the structure of a material, from the atomic to the macroscopic level, in order to adjust its strength properties to the requirements of specific engineering applications. In almost every area of life, from the construction of bridges to tissue engineering, we will find improvements and opportunities which have been given to us by the materials science.
Who may apply?
The person eligible to apply for admission to the CUT Doctoral School in the scientific discipline of materials engineering must have the professional title of Master in one of the primary study programmes: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science and biotechnology, or of Master in Engineering in the whole range of technical study programmes.
Study the discipline of Materials Engineering to discover new materials and technologies and to make them more environmentally friendly.
